Jeremy Scahill on Getting His First Advance
Unless you are one of the very lucky few who win the book deal lottery, a book advance
won't change your life. In a recent Media Beat interview, The Nation's national security
correspondent and a New York Times bestselling author Jeremy Scahill broke down
how quickly a book advance can disappear - even before taxes.
Most recently, Scahill wrote Dirty Wars: The World Is a Battlefield for Nation Books.

The series comprising two dresses, made of photoluminescent thread
and imbedded eye tracking technology, is activated by spectators' gaze.
A photograph is said to be “spoiled” by blinking eyes – here however,
the concept of presence and of disappearance are questioned,
as the experience of chiaroscuro (clarity/obscurity) is achieved
through an unfixed gaze.
