James Joyce Plays the Guitar, 1915
Restoration of guitar played by James Joyce | via The Irish Times
The guitar which James Joyce was pictured playing in 1919 has been on display
at Joyce Tower in glass casing for 45 years but no real care was given to it over the years.
Professor Fran O'Rourke at UCD has orchestrated the careful restoration of the instrument
by renowned lutenist Gary Southwell of www.southwellguitars.co.uk at facilities provided by
Collins Barracks. The refurbished guitar will be played at a series of lunchtime recitals
at Newman House in Dublin during Bloomsweek.

D.O.A. (1950) : Film Noir Classic
This public domain movie is a classic example of film noir and one of my favorite movies.
In it, a guy is poisoned by radiation poisoning put in his drink, and he knows he is going to die,
but in with his remaining time he dedicates himself to discovering who killed him, and why.

BETH | from anonymous content | via #vimeo
BETH from anonymous content on Vimeo.
You know a song is a classic when it gets parodied.
The legendary KISS ballad, “Beth” is no exception.
This short film, directed by Brian Billow, chronicles
the completely fictitious story of the song’s inspiration.
The Peter Criss character's dialogue stays true to the song's lyrics

Dan Rather : My First Big Break | #mediabistroTV | via #YouTube
In this episode of mediabistroTV's "My First Big Break," legendary CBS anchor Dan Rather
recounts the break he got covering Hurricane Carla in 1961.
Rather was an anchor at KHOU in Houston when the hurricane approached the Gulf of Mexico.
After mapping the hurricane's path, Rather traveled to Galveston Island to cover the storm.
There, he overcame high winds, flooding, and even poisonous snakes to cover the hurricane.
Along the way, he innovated how TV stations cover severe weather,
and CBS News took notice.
Rather can now be seen on HDNet's Dan Rather Reports.
Jerry Springer : My First Big Break | #mediabistroTV | via #YouTube
Say the name Jerry Springer and the first thing that comes to mind might be
a daytime talk show where people throw chairs at one other to make a point.
So it may not be much of a surprise to discover Jerry got his start in politics.
The former lawyer, former campaign adviser for Robert F. Kennedy,
former mayor of Cincinnati and former anchor for the city's NBC
affiliate WLWT tells mediabistroTV his career wasn't launched
by one big break as much as it was the result of
being ready for anything.
